For more than 30 years, Dr. J. Randal Buttram has given his patients the best possible experience. Whether it’s learning new orthodontic technologies to making sure our office runs efficiently and smoothly, Dr. Buttram cares for each patient like they’re part of his own family.

He loves seeing young patients grow into confident adults and the moment when an adult patient sees their new smile in the mirror. Dr. Buttram chose to pursue orthodontics because it gave him the opportunity to witness patients reach these milestones in their lives.

Dr. Buttram received a specialty Certificate in Orthodontics after successfully completing a two-year residency at the University of Pennsylvania. He works to make sure he has to most up to date orthodontic knowledge.

He devotes more than 20 hours each year to continuing education focusing on developing efficient orthodontic treatment, cosmetic options like Invisalign® and clear braces.

Dr. Buttram is devoted to using his expertise to help you discover the right solution for your smile.

Dr. Buttram grew up in Central Florida before attending college in Arkansas, where he met his wife Angie. They’ve been married for more than 30 years and are delighted to live in Florida’s most beautiful community – Panama City.

Their two daughters give them plenty of reasons to travel. Emily is a physician’s assistant and lives in Nashville, Tennessee with husband Ray. Ellie lives in Dallas, Texas with husband Hayden.

In his free time, Dr. Buttram flies planes, golfs, cycles, stand up paddleboards, reads and surfs. He is actively involved with his church, local youth sports program as a team sponsor, and the local dental society.

Why Choose an Orthodontist Over a Dentist for Teeth Straightening

While both dentists and orthodontists help improve your oral health, orthodontists undergo additional years of specialized training specifically focused on the alignment of teeth and jaws. This makes them the experts in treatments that involve braces, invisalign, and other teeth-straightening procedures. Choosing an orthodontist for your treatment ensures that you're getting specialized care, which often leads to better results and a more comfortable experience.
