When should my child first see an orthodontist?
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children have their first orthodontic checkup around age 7.
At this age, your child has a mix of baby and permanent teeth, giving Dr. Buttram an opportunity to evaluate how their teeth, jaws, and bite are developing and identify concerns that may benefit from early attention.
An early orthodontic evaluation doesn’t necessarily mean your child will need treatment right away.
If they’re not ready yet, they can join our complimentary Kids Club, where Dr. Buttram can continue monitoring their smile, growth, and development until the timing is right.
